The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is the UK's main agency for funding and managing research, training and knowledge exchange in the environmental sciences.
The NERC funds around 300 MSc students each year. The majority of these students are carrying out research and training in a three to four year programme leading to a PhD. The others hold one-year studentships which support them whilst they study for an MSc or MRes degree.
The NERC only funds students through university departments and NERC research centres. If you are interested in applying for a NERC studentship you should contact the department or research centre where you want to study.
