Summary Information
The course caters for students who would like a career in the area of corporate finance; the purpose of the course is for students to develop a strong foundation in the principles and practise of corporate finance as well as an understanding of the analytical tools required to make appropriate financial decisions; students develop the theoretical and practical skills and the qualitative and quantitative tools necessary for the analysis of issues in different areas of corporate finance.
Entry requirements
A 2:2 Honours degree or above in any discipline; applicants with non-standard qualifications, particularly those with considerable practitioner experience are considered; evidence of English language proficiency is also required; either IELTS or TOEFL qualifications are acceptable: IELTS Band 7.0 or above and 6 in the writing component; TOEFL 600 or above or the computer-based TOEFL score 250 or above; in both forms of the test, students must also get 5.0 in the Test of Written English; the TOEFL ibt score must be 100, plus 20- 24 in the Test of Written English.
Course modules
Semester 1: introductory economics for finance; macroeconomics for finance; accounting; issues in corporate finance; semester 2: empirical methods in finance; portfolio analysis and management; securities investment regulations and practice; final stage: dissertation.
