Summary Information
The course explores the techniques of social media, considers the development and direction of social media as a creative industry and contributes new research and knowledge to the field; students undertake a work placement/internship with an organisation that uses social media or is exploring social media.
Entry requirements
2.1 or considerable experience in a related field and able to demonstrate outstanding ability and potential; all applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS level 6.5; basic competence in information technology; inquiring mind; aptitude for finding things out; sharing and communicating ideas; desire to develop as an independent and self-motivated thinker.
Course modules
The taught postgraduate phase of the course comprises modules that explore social media from a cultural studies perspective and explore political economy, social enterprise and social media organisations; the Master’s component entails a substantial piece of independent study and either a social media production project or a 15000 word dissertation.
