Summary Information
The course provides an appropriate range and depth of theoretical and professional knowledge to enable students to understand the key issues and challenges within radio and audio production and development media; students are asked to create challenging simulations by making radio programmes with development objectives and are required to engage in academic and professional debates; students are able to evaluate existing academic knowledge on the subject, examine professional practice and appraise their own scholarly work in a critical way; students examine the key theoretical approaches to understanding radio as a development medium and study professional practises in radio production, current intellectual challenges within the industry and examine scholarly and professional techniques.
Entry requirements
Candidates should have at least a 2:1 degree in a relevant subject area and should provide evidence of work in or a familiarity with the radio or audio production; we welcome non-traditional applications; particularly from applicants with substantial professional or production experience; prior experiential learning is an acceptable route to the course.
Course modules
The professional skills base as it relates to both governmental and N.G.O. funded radio; budgetary considerations; project planning; production skills and multi-track digital editing; web-based skills; feature/programme planning and construction; project management; legal and cultural considerations.
