Summary Information
This course explores the structural changes to the constitutional arrangements of the United Kingdom; the most obvious of these are the creation of legislative and executive bodies in Scotland and Wales, together with a resumption of devolved government in Northern Ireland; the course explores the opportunities and tensions created by these innovations and also examines the less public shifts in the relationships between the 3 branches of government; issues concerning accountability, democratic engagement and what constitutes good governance are explored to give an understanding of the broader relationships between the regions and tiers of government/governance at the state and EU levels.
Entry requirements
Good Honours degree in law (2.2 or equivalent), although other appropriate qualifications are considered; those whose 1st language is not English must obtain a score of at least 6.5 in IELTS (with no less than 6.0 in any element) or 580 (paper-based), 237 (computer-based), 90 (internet-based) in TOEFL or equivalent.
