Education

Brunel University

If you choose to study for a degree in Education you will find yourself with an instantly recognisable seal of approval. The University has a reputation as one of the leading institutions for teacher education in the UK. You will be offered an innovative course geared to the challenges and changes within Education and to the needs of individual students like yourself. You will benefit from strong and enduring partnerships between the School and a variety of educational institutions and local schools. You will gain experience, expertise and confidence form learning about education in the vibrant, multi-cultural environment of west London.

A distinctive feature of studying Education at Brunel is that the process of learning is informed by cutting-edge research by staff. We are host to The Brunel Able children's Centre. Our teaching, in programmes uniquely incorporating the results of this research, seeks to promote skills such as those developed in the area of supportive education and to prepare teachers to help all pupils of all abilities to develop their full potential. The MA in Education was praised by external assessors for its 'high quality teaching', 'pro-active tutoring system', and for the ways in which staff 'use their cutting-edge research in their teaching, making research integral to students' experience'.

Research students are normally admitted to a research cluster, where they benefit from working with staff and other research students in a similar field and are encouraged to contribute to and participate in national and international research symposia. The School also runs regular doctoral research methods training courses.

Education has excellent support services and resources; including dedicated research areas fully equipped with on-line ICT facilities and is able to support qualitative and quantitative approaches to approved research topics.

Education at Brunel has a long tradition of innovation and excellence. We were the first in the field of teaching education in the UK and for over 200 years we have stimulated and adapted to change through innovation and development. We are now a leading institution in developing new flexible routes into teaching.
