Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University is an international business school at the heart of North East England. We have a diverse student population of 4,000 students on-campus, a further 2,200 studying at partner institutions overseas and an academic and professional support staff of 200. Through the Subject Groups of Accounting and Financial Management, Organisation and Human Resource Management, Marketing Travel and Tourism Management, Strategic Management and International Business, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Business Analysis, Systems and Information Management, Newcastle Business School offers the full range of business and management education.

Research which is business led and which leads business, is at the core of practice-relevant education. Research underpins an enviable track record of Corporate and Executive Development activities with Multi National Companies and regional clients and the highly successful postgraduate, PhD and Professional Doctorate programmes. Postgraduate study

We have almost 20 years experience of delivering international programmes and recognise international exposure, culture and experience are all part and parcel of the multiplicity of the postgraduate provision. At this level a wide variety of generalist and specialist programmes are available which are constantly updated to meet the challenges of today's rapidly changing economy.

Across the postgraduate area there is a commitment to develop business practitioners and individuals capable of contributing to organisational effectiveness. Underpinning this is an approach of ‘theory into practice' with a focus on being business led and research informed. Allowing students to be highly knowledgeable about the theory and practice of international business, who can think and act strategically, who can develop a range of leadership skills and knowledge and acquire a high level of competence in research and scholarly application.

At the heart of Newcastle Business School's postgraduate learning and teaching philosophy is the development of ‘reflective practitioners' where students acquire a range of critical thinking skills, a high degree of self-awareness and a capacity for independent learning. A range of experiences throughout the programmes designed to help students achieve this, such as the management development residential, international study trips (MBA), a business simulation exercise and guest lectures.

Research

Newcastle Business School's research activity is conducted across a wide range of in-house expertise, working in partnership with organisations to support them in achieving their business and management development strategies. Partnerships with all sectors of the business community are central to Newcastle Business School's ethos. This is achieved by working closely with each client organisation to ensure their needs are being met. Facilities

Newcastle Business School delivers first class teaching in a world class environment. Known as City Campus East, it comprises 24,000 square metres of purpose designed academic accommodation including classrooms, lecture theatres, hub areas and exhibition space all of which are at the cutting edge of design and technology.

The building has provided Newcastle with a centre of learning unrivalled in the region. It has received high acclaim, having been named as the North East Landmark of The Year 2007. As well as the innovative interior, the exterior of the buildings also plays a major part in the new landmark status as they are illuminated each night, providing a stunning addition to the city's skyline.
