The Department of Communication, Marketing and Media is one of the largest in the Aberdeen Business School. The skills of communication, marketing and media are important components in today's international business and the global communications industries. Therefore, courses taught in the department provide relevant theory and current knowledge alongside the practical, applied skills required in these disciplines - an essential part of any business education programme. At Aberdeen Business School we have one of the strongest portfolios of quality courses. Our courses are accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), and the (CIPD),The Institute of Export. Reflecting our vocational strength we are accredited by and have links to The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), and also the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).

Research
We are a vibrant research community undertaking a wide range of externally funded research and committed to furthering research opportunities in our various disciplines. In the last UK Research Assessment Exercise (2008 RAE) the Aberdeen Business School achieved excellent results with our research achieving international quality and including a significant amount of our research reaching the levels of Internationally Excellent (3*) or Internationally Recognised (2*). Robert Gordon University is rated as a top post-92 university in Scotland for research quality with world class researchers in eight of the eleven subjects considered for the assessment. Aberdeen Business School has a substantial number of full and part-time research degree completions and UK Economic and Social Research Council recognition for research student training in Politics (valid through to at least 2009-10). We have a strong and dynamic group of research students who, in tandem with over 120 academics and professorial staff, contribute to the School's active research community.
Facilities
Schools based at our Garthdee campus are served by The Georgina Scott Sutherland Library, a striking building designed by renowned architect Lord Norman Foster. Home to several University collections, the Library also frequently hosts exhibitions. Facilities include: Wide range of books and journals plus fast access to databases, eBooks and other online resources, Quiet study areas Meeting rooms for group work. IT and printing facilities Wireless internet acces.There is an extensive collection of books, journals and DVDs available to borrow, and the university subscribes to a number of e-books, online journals and databases. If we do not have the book or journal that you require, an inter-library loan can usually be arranged. There are computers located on each floor of the library; these can be used at any time that the library is open.
