Management
Robert Gordon University
Courses at Aberdeen Business School are ‘real world' through and through. Practical, highly relevant and underpinned by applied research, they're designed in partnership with industry to ensure its needs are met. Our vocational programmes also develop valuable transferable skills (such as research, writing and oral presentation) that keep career pathways flexible. What's more, they build the confidence you need to be employable straight after graduation. Alongside stimulating work placements and visits to companies, visiting guest lecturers offer a chance to see how theory works in practice. There are also exciting opportunities to study abroad, as well as network with our own International Students Society. This helps our international students make friends and connections by experiencing Scottish culture and tradition through sports and other social activities. Our large international student population complements our equally international staff who share experience and teaching techniques gathered.
Postgraduate study
This course provides an excellent learning curve for aspiring managers or people who wish to enter management from a specialist professional position. You will develop business and management skills suitable for practice at middle management level, and skills that will prepare you for higher level management. The natural development for graduates in the workplace is towards strategic leadership of their own section or function and even towards company leadership. The "real world" emphasis in this course will allow you to hit the ground running and perform more effectively as managers.
Research
Research activities underpin our teaching and further enhance the quality and relevance of our courses. Aberdeen Business School offers a supportive and stimulating research environment. Research is central to the vision of the university and, consistent with this, a thriving research culture has been developed within Business, Management and Accounting with many papers being published in a range of journals.
Facilities
Providing crucial support for our international staff, state-of-the-art lecture theatres and IT facilities are key to excellent teaching and learning. Our library houses comprehensive collections of journals, case studies and electronic resources. High end art, radio and TV studios with digital editing facilities and an iMac suite complete the picture. Fashion management students also have access to a newly equipped fashion workshop in Gray's School of Art where they can gain an understanding of the design process in action.
