The University's strong relationships with industry and local, national and international level enables us to always stay 'one step ahead' and confidently deliver engineering courses that meet the demands of your future employers. Our links with world leading professional societies Institute of Engineering and Technology, The Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology allows us to offer fully accredited BEng/MEng courses related to electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering, including our four year fast track MEng. Training for the Cisco' CCNA qualification is also an integral feature of the Computer Network and Management and Design degree.
Postgraduate study
The University is passionate about producing quality graduates who are ready to hit the ground running, through our strong relationships with industry. We build these links via placements, through research projects and knowledge transfer - enabling businesses to provide input into course development and delivery. Our staff brings with them a wide range of experience and expertise, complementing the speakers we regularly invite from industry to lecture on undergraduate and postgraduate courses who also help ensure we stay up-to-date and relevant. By meeting with a range of professionals from relevant industries throughout Scotland, and forging collaborative links with other HE institutions, we are constantly enhancing course content.
Research
The ethos of research in the School of Engineering at Robert Gordon University is to develop original ideas through to applications, with particular emphasis on implementation for wealth creation and life quality improvement. We have several laboratory suites specifically designed for research. The University promotes a dynamic environment without traditional discipline-related barriers, which has benefited the development of four multi-disciplinary Research Groups which are the Environmental Technology Group, the Energy Group, the Materials & Bioengineering Group and the Electronic Systems Group.
Facilities
The School of Engineering boasts modern, purpose-built laboratories and facilities, equipped with the very latest engineering technology, ensuring our students always have access to ‘the right tools for the job'. State-of-the-art facilities include the 'Slice of Ocean Wave Tank' which is currently helping researchers to study and test new innovative wave power technology that can withstand harsh environments. Our IT laboratories are fully equipped with the latest industry-related software and online technical applications, ensuring high performance and outstanding support. Students also have access to Campus Moodle, the University's new virtual learning environment, which offers a wide range of learning materials and student information.
