Sheffield Hallam University offers a wide range of courses for professionals working with children and young people and is one of the largest providers of teacher education in the country.
We provide support for people seeking or developing careers in education and training, and many of our courses and research projects are linked with the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).
We have strong partnerships with over 600 local and regional schools and colleges.
Postgraduate study
Sheffield Hallam consistently ranks as one of the top performing modern universities for both teaching and research. Our courses are designed in partnership with employers, professional associations and practice specialists. This ensures that you graduate with the skills needed in the workplace. We have worked with industry leading organisations and bodies including Sony, NHS, Network Rail, Cisco, SAP and Microsoft.
We have won national centre of excellence status for e-learning and building employability into courses.
We offer 324 courses with accreditation or approval from 59 professional bodies. Accredited courses have been audited to ensure that they meet industry recognised quality standards. They often provide exemptions from professional examinations and membership of professional bodies.

Facilities
Learning centres
The University has invested millions of pounds in its learning centres, which bring together library services, computing and multimedia facilities. As well as books, periodicals and other printed material, we provide access to hundreds of databases and specially produced key internet resources.
Computing facilities
There are thousands of computers available on campus. Rooms containing PCs or specialist workstations are used for learning and teaching and can also be used by individual students at other times. All are connected to the campus-wide network and provide access to over 250 software packages, including Microsoft Office, e-mail and the internet.
Research and services to business
Great investment has been made in equipment, technology and our campuses themselves to facilitate high quality research and consultancy at the University. We host many research centres and institutes, crossing a variety of disciplines, and provide support to groups and individual students conducting research on a vast range of themes. In addition, we provide comprehensive and invaluable services to business, including consultancy, training, testing, advice and directly commissioned research.
