TARGETcourses Postgraduate Study and Funding Fair Wales 2014
Now in its fifth year, this highly regarded fair is an excellent forum for students and graduates to have discussions with representatives from institutions of higher education who are seeking to fill their postgraduate course places for 2014/15, as well as to receive exclusive advice and news on funding postgraduate degrees.
Exhibitors will include universities from across the UK and beyond, as well as financial institutions and agencies dedicated to providing funding for postgraduate study. This will be your opportunity to talk directly to course providers and find out information that you cannot get from their brochures and websites, including advice on funding and the application process.
Cardiff University are proud to host the TARGETcourses Postgraduate Study and Funding Fair Wales in the Great Hall, a multi-purpose venue located on the 1st floor of the Students’ Union building.
By day it houses everything from lectures, freshers’ fayres and exhibitions, to the occasional beer festival and dodgeball tournament. You might even find yourself sitting an exam in there during your time at Cardiff University.
How to get there
The Cardiff University Students' Union is located near the middle of the city, within easy walking distance of Cathays train station and about 25 mins walk from Cardiff Central station.

We will reimburse reasonable travel expenses for students getting to the fair via public transport. The amount we will reimburse depends on where you normally study (see below).
You can claim for your reimbursement on the day. In order to do so you must provide the following documentation:
- University ID card
- Travel receipts, inc. a VAT receipt.
Failure to provide these documents will result in travel reimbursement being refused. Only the value of your travel shown on the receipts will be paid.

After having completed an expense claim on the day, we will post you a cheque covering the cost of your travel after the event.
Students who spend over an hour at the event will be provided with a lunch voucher to redeem against a burger, fries and drink at Burger Bar (on campus at Cardiff University).
These lunch vouchers are subject to availability and will be given on a first come, first serve basis. If you want to be sure of getting a free lunch, arrive at the event early.
Vouchers have a fixed value and there is no cash alternative.

In the current economic climate, finding the money to undertake postgraduate study is a key issue for most students. Our one to one funding service is a great opportunity to speak to an expert on funding in a discrete and relaxed environment.
To be able to visit our one to one advice sessions simply book a 10 minute free slot on the day at the registration desk. Be aware, this service is popular and spaces will fill very quickly.
How to prepare for one to one funding
To prepare for one to one funding we recommend writing down any questions you have and taking them with you on the day. For example, you may be unsure on whether you want to study part time or full time and the difference in cost between the two. This is your opportunity to find out what’s best for you.
