City University London

Founded in 1894 as the Northampton Institute, City University London was awarded full university status in 1966.

City University London was created by royal charter, following recommendations in the Robbins Report of 1963. We are based in the centre of London and contribute significantly to the capital's academic, cultural and business life. Our name, "The City University", was chosen to reflect the close links between our institution and with London. We have almost 23,680 students from 157 countries who benefit from our internationally recognised experience of more than one hundred years' of teaching and learning.
