It has developed from its origins as a School of Medicine and Surgery, established in 1834, through to the modern, successful and forward thinking institution that it is today. The University Library service provides more than one million books, 5,000 printed journals and a huge number of electronic journals and books. You will also have access to one of the best University computing services in the UK.
If English is not your first language, INTO Newcastle University provides a number of services to assess and further develop your language skills. The Language Resource Centre is free to all Newcastle students. It provides materials and facilities for the research, learning, teaching and practice of over 50 foreign languages.
